Just as I thought I was getting softies out of my system, after the whole Blackie episode, it seems they are everywhere!
As greenolive pointed out, they went mainstream when featured in a recent Australian Women's Weekly. Well, now it seems they have become glamorous too! Softies are now being promoted as the next big (cool) thing by Australian Vogue, as seen here in the latest January 2008 edition!!!
What the??!!
I don't know about you, but I can't really see that many well-heeled, Chanel clad ladies raiding their sock drawers and getting out their sewing baskets (assuming they have one, of course) to whip up a softie. So I guess then it could be a good thing for crafters and mean that softies will now reach a whole new market, with a higher disposable income. Maybe we can even put our prices up??!!
I'm not sure I have any angora gloves hanging around, but I do have plenty of old socks...
I checked this book out from the library once. Loved it, but my socks chose that week to not have any mismatches. *sniff*

So was it any good Robyn? It seemed like it would be a bit ridiculously over the top and not at all practical, like "take one pair of $300 cashmere gloves, cut into the desired shape, fill with stuffing and give to some ungrateful child" (who will get it sticky within the first five minutes and drop it on the ground). Sorry about that last part - don't know what happened there! And you are pregant too, aren't you?!
